This area is for discussion about DJing in general. Please remember the community rules when posting and try to be polite and inclusive. A friend of mine owns a pretty large chain of fitness joints, you know the workout places here in SoCal. One of their biggest money makers is the "Spin Class". They try to book these to capacity for each class and booked weeks in advance. Since it's one of the most popular, it's also the most popular with their competitors.
It's cut throat. Competitors are bringing in "celebrity instructors" and what not, but my guy has a different idea.
As far as he can tell, none of his competitors are really Beware - Big Sean - Hall Of Fame this yet. My friend teaches one of the classes at this gym and he "DJs it live", meaning he has a little cd walkman and pushes buttons So Much - DJ Kitchen - Variable Spin it to get the track he wants. Not exactly a real DJ experience if you know what I mean.
So they asked me to spin some classes for them. I have no idea what I would play though. I don't really know, never been to a spin class myself. I think would be a great way to pick up some extra cash, since the class times totally do not conflict with "club times". What do you guys think? Waste of time? Holla at your boy! Dj Ryme PM - 10 May, shit if your getting your paper and you have good bpm sets then fo for it!
Just keep it upbeat. It's all the novelty. Having a DJ live could work. Personally, I wouldn't do it. It would be so boring. Was It You?
- Chynna* & Vaughan* - One Reason, hey, you'll have fit chics within reach. Julls PM - 10 May, Quote:. What else are you going to do I think I'm gonna give it a try. I'll let you guys know how it goes. So Much - DJ Kitchen - Variable Spin on the instructor they can be quite good. I finally went down to the GYM to spin a set. That was a blast! I did not do the spin class, but just setup in the main room.
Which in this case, is a good thing. I'll tell you why. I get there and they show me where to setup. Right in the main workout room where in front of me I have a row of 8 stair thing machines, 8 elliptical machines and 8 treadmills. I know you guys will think I am making this up, but the entire set, nearly all the machines were occupied, almost exclusively by women, almost exclusively HOT! I got not a single request and I had many people telling me after their session, that it was so much So Much - DJ Kitchen - Variable Spin with a live DJ pumping them up.
The only downside was that hip-hop really didn't fit in well Morning For One - Linda Hoyle - Pieces Of Me, so I was spinning other stuff. Which is cool. I'm currently working with the owner to do a regular schedule and they'll promote it as part of their member benefits. That gig was so chill, I'm actually considering hitting up some other gyms.
Watching HOT chicks workout for 4 hours!? Are you kidding me? Dj Ryme PM - 13 June, hip-hop didnt get them pumped up??? Good running speed. I have a bundle of tunes that have hip hop lyrics put over a consistant house beat, I'm thinkin that'd be a pretty good ticket.
Bet you'd get skinny in a jiffy! You're on to something here. Monk-A AM - 14 June, whats a spin class? Smith PM - 14 June, A spin class is where you're riding a bicycle for your workout Very fast paced and a kick boo-tay workout I can't quite get my head around 2 people sat in a room cycling away to music.
Likwid PM - 14 June, I dont know about the rest of you well I do cause I just read all your posts So Much - DJ Kitchen - Variable Spin , but I think this is kinda cool. I'm somewhat tired of the same old club scene and I dont even spin clubs every single weekend. I wouldnt mind gettin out and spinnin some other kinds of events. They walk around with those ass shorts. I need to settle down. In Newport Beach. I'm thinking I should give it a go. I think thats my new deal Duran AM - 15 June, just read this thread, and gotta say Duran AM - 15 June, Quote:.
Im tired on searching on myspace for some nice ass shots!!! Other than that most songs should prob be above bpm It is great when songs change quickly- nothing is worse than a 6 to 9 minute-long song when you're stuck on a stationary bike I haven't even joined the gym yet but I def want to dj there I would probably bust out my wife beater too so I can fit in. DJLorrence AM - 18 June, yeah, personally for me, i'd probably just but out and beat my meat instead! To participate in this forum discussion please log in to your Serato account.
