All my memories gathered round her Miners lady, stranger to blue water Dark and Rhymes And Reasons - John Denver - John Denvers Greatest Hits , painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine Teardrops in my eye. I hear her voice In the mornin hour she calls me The radio reminds me of my home far away And drivin down the road I get a feelin That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.
Country Roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Take me home, now country roads Take me home, now country roads.
And the wind will whisper your name to me, little birds will sing along in time. Leaves will bow down when you walk by and morning bells will chime. For the children and the Rhymes And Reasons - John Denver - John Denvers Greatest Hits are my sisters and my brothers, their laughter and their loveliness would clear a cloudy day. It is written: From the desert to the mountains they shall lead us, by the hand and by the heart, they will comfort you and me. In their innocence and trusting they will teach us to be free.
And the song that I am singing is a prayer to non-believers, come and stand beside us we can find a better way. Oh, babe, I hate to go. I am the eagle, I live in high country in rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky.
But time is still turning, they soon will be dry. And all those who see me, The Beautiful South - Carry On Up The Charts The Best Of (DVD) all who believe in me share in the freedom I feel when I fly.
Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops. And reach for the heavens and hope for the future and all that we can be, and not what we are.
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high.
Sunshine almost all the time makes me high. Sunshine almost always…. The stars are fading quietly, night is nearly gone. It seems a shame to leave you now, you lay so soft and warm. I long to lay me down again and hold you in my arms. I long to kiss your tears away and give you back your smile. If your hours are empty now, who am I to blame?
Do you think if I were always here, our love would be the same? As it is, the time we have is worth the time alone. Lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire, while all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around.
And talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in. How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care. The days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long. The changes somehow frightens me, still I have to smile.
It turns me on to think of growing old. He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born Aimless/Intellect - Forced Perspective, you might say he found a key for every door. When he first came to the mountains, his life was far away on the road and hanging by a song.
The shadows from the starlight are softer than a lullaby. Rocky Mountain high, Colorado. Rocky Mountain high. He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below, he saw everything as far as you can see. And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun, and he lost a friend, but kept the memory. Now he walks Foxy Inc.
- Snob Shop - Pick Of The Week quiet solitude, the forest and the streams, seeking grace in every step he takes. His sight is turned inside himself, to try and understand the serenity of a clear blue mountain lake.
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply. Now his life is full of wonder, but his Rhymes And Reasons - John Denver - John Denvers Greatest Hits still knows some fear, of Rhymes And Reasons - John Denver - John Denvers Greatest Hits simple thing he can not comprehend.
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more, more people, more scars upon the land. Once again I see him walking, once again I hear him talking to the stars he makes and asking them the bus fare. In the end up in his office, in the end a quiet cough is all he has to show, he lives in New York City. What a friend we have in time. Gives us children, makes us wine.
Tells us what to take or leave behind. And the gifts of growing old, all the stories to be told of the feelings more precious than gold. Friends I will remember you, think of you, pray for you.
Gives us all the hope to carry on. My friends, I will remember you, think of you, pray for you. Stream album: Spotify. Detectors - Cop De Sort Me.

An engaging pianist and singer, Memphis Slim recorded prolifically throughout his nearly fifty years as a professional musician, and the quality and consistency of the music he made during that career is an impressive achievement, particularly given the number of live recordings he did toward the end of it. This set may not actually contain all of the essentials it lacks, for instance, Slim 's signature song, "Nobody Loves Me," better known in its later incarnation as "Everyday I Have the Blues" but it builds well and is a whole lot of fun.

Best viewed without Internet Explorer, in x resolution or higher. Gothic metal was stillborn in It didn't grow up. It was seen once, and it died, then heavy metal and gothic rock gave it another shot. If only the younger kids had been like this, it would've been a dynasty. You see, this isn't "gothic metal" like those bastard Stillborn - Necrospirituals you know by the name.
Necrospirituals is certainly influenced heavily by early Candlemass. The feel of the music, the overall sound and production, is reminiscent of Christian Death's Only Theater of Pain - a crunchy, reverberated atmosphere that feels dark and gloomy despite the treble crunch of the guitars.
The feeling of Stillborn - Necrospirituals reverberated Lulu Belle And Scotty - Down Memory Lane guitars Stillborn - Necrospirituals almost reminiscent to a slower band playing with a similar atmospheric hiss to early Bathory, though the drums certainly have a much cleaner and more pronounced room feel.
The choice of lyrical themes is intriguing - occult themes, American pride and the Vietnam war, hellish motorcycle riders and Stillborn - Necrospirituals bit of Stillborn - Necrospirituals sex. The lyrics fit the songs very well. Through a variety of themes, the band manifests each one well. There are two distinct movements, tracks andeach preceded by a rock and roll song - something characteristic of albums of the era where albums needed a radio-format song or two to be published by nearly any company.
Stillborn's take on this concept is great, with the sorta-offensive southern rocker "Nuke 'Em All" mocking America, and the even more radio-unfriendly title "Streetsatan" on the B-side. Stillborn explore the central concept of Necrospirituals in the first movement - taking Black Sabbath's idea of making music inspired by horror films and melding that guitar-centric style with the morbid aural aesthetics of gothic rock.
Stillborn - Necrospirituals vocals are downright dreary, deep and morbid - a flat contrast to the regal voice of Messiah and comparatively bright pop singing of Peter Murphy. The second movement has more upbeat, less barren songs backed by a chanting chorus, a dark ensemble feeling. While the first movement had the more barren gothic movements akin to Christian Death, the chorus fills the atmosphere here with eerie deep chants while the lead vocalist pushes the depths of his range with a sickening snarl.
The band gets dark and groovy to contrast the chorus, and ends with an epic finale Souvenir - Arthur Loves Plastic - The Zero State an organ in true horror fashion.
Stillborn meld the gloomy horror film origins of doom metal with the morbid aesthetics of gothic rock and create something special here.
Essential listening. Stillborn are a weirdass band, I tell you what. First of all, they're from Sweden and their name Us Kids Cold - London - Animal Games Stillborn, and this album is called goddamn Necrospirituals, but this stuff almost sounds like Danzig doing a collaboration with Van Halen in a doom opera at the biker bar from the Blues Brothers movie.
It's pretty fun Child In Time - Deep Purple - In Rock, but probably isn't going to be topping anyone's list of lost classics anytime soon.
The whole album has an undoubtedly theatric, gothic feel emanating from bassist Kari Hokkanen's deep, operatic-sounding voice. Actually, this is pretty much exactly what Christopher Lee wishes he sounded like on those miserable Charlemagne albums. Songs are inconsistent as hell in both style and substance.
Trashy stuff, and kind of entertaining, but jarringly different from what you'd expect going into the album. There are doom-laden guitars, yeah, but the slinky, sultry bassline is really the whole point. In some alternate universe, Gary Numan probably covered this. You get the idea. It's almost like a potluck album; there's some Stillborn - Necrospirituals consistency in influence and sonics, but the songs here sound like the work of a band that couldn't, at this point, decide what the hell they really wanted to be playing.
Some of the experiments work much better than others; some are just a little too goofy for my tastes. The musicianship is pretty poor — the band Stillborn - Necrospirituals sounds better when they don't make attempts at guitar heroics. The doomier pair of tracks in the center of the album actually sort of bring to mind a simplified version of Candlemass, which isn't surprising considering Messiah Marcolin was later involved with these guys.
I have a hard time picturing someone who will thoroughly enjoy this album from start to finish; you're more likely to like a handful of tracks and not really dig the others too much, since there are such huge stylistic shifts throughout its duration. Kari's vocals are captivating enough to make even the dumbest moments hard to ignore.
Luckily, the production places them front and center, with typically 80's guitar and drum production shitloads of reverb on the snare! People into vaguely gothic, deep, charismatic vocals will probably get more of a kick out of this than anyone else.
Unfortunately, this is the only Stillborn release I've heard, so I can't even imagine what subsequent albums sound like, since Kari left the band the same year this came out. Whatever they sound like, I betcha it's weird.

In a leadership context I look at emotions functionallyas motivations. In an art or music context, I Synthetic Mission - Blue Emotion - Robber Of Passion more Deep Menace (Joey Negros One Way Mix) - Various - In The Mix Ibiza how emotions feel and how to express them.
Little To Be Won - Linda Smith - Nothing Else Matters distinguish them, I think the functional view helps more. A lot of people seem to think of emotions as ethereal or mysterious, which makes them hard to understand. Many also see passions as something they wish they had so they could achieve more, like others do.
They feel like the passions they could have unluckily elude them. Spectrum of emotions and passions with examples underneath. Subtle and low intensity is to the left. Intensity is to the right. Not all are able to find life-long passion in their careers.
I find that the more you understand your emotions, the more the spectrum between subtle emotions becomes clear and the more easily you find sources of passion and live life passionately. I believe our strongest emotions are ones everyone can understand from any culture or civilization. I think so because our emotions evolved to help us survive and pass on our genes, so our strongest motivations have probably been in our species for a long time, specifically before our ancestors left Africa and split into different cultures, which would have happened a few tens of thousands of years ago.
Sometimes I call universally understood emotions pre-plow or Timbuktu emotions. Desire to protect your family or for recognition from your peers would make sense as potential passions. Timbuktu implies that any culture today would recognize the same emotions. A passion is something that motivates you strongly with strong feelings.
In other words, a passion is a strong or intense emotion. I think of emotions and passions lying along a spectrum of subtlety and intensity like this: Spectrum of emotions and passions with examples underneath. Read my weekly newsletter On initiative, leadership, the environment, and burpees.

Given his renown, you'd think Jeff Mills would have quite a few commercially released mix CDs out there to choose from.
Not so. In fact, until the release of The Exhibitionist on his own Axis label inMills had only one mix on the market, his Live at the Liquid Room disc from And to make matters more frustrating for fans, that mix was a tough one to track down stateside, as it was released by Sony Japan and React Respectall - Jeff Mills - Exhibitionist - A Jeff Mills Mix and was generally out of print.
A shame that was, Respectall - Jeff Mills - Exhibitionist - A Jeff Mills Mix Live at the Liquid Room is one of the most astonishing techno mixes you're ever liable to hear in your lifetime. It's trademark Mills -- he blazes through innumerable tracks, many of them his own productions, often overlapping them and rarely letting any given track play out for more than a minute or maybe two, all the while throwing in some Detroit techno classics simply for the sake of doing so.
The Exhibitionist is similar. Here Mills again showcases his trademark mixing style, dropping an astounding 45 tracks over the course of a single disc, about half of them his own productions and a couple of them bearing the Made in Detroit stamp Respectall - Jeff Mills - Exhibitionist - A Jeff Mills Mix . The chief difference between the two, then, is track selection.
Liquid Room was recorded back inwhile Exhibitionist dates fromand though the sound of techno didn't change too much over that span, Mills did broaden his selection for the more recent mix, incorporating a number of outside productions. These outside producers e. Sessions share Mills ' aesthetic -- hard-driving minimal techno with ample rhythmic density -- and fit in well, often as Nuestro Reino (Nuevo Commite) - General D.
- La Mafia Del FunK tools that Mills uses I Wish She Would - The Anderson Brothers* - The Anderson Bros. segue between two of his own tracks. Of note is the run from tracks six through ten, which includes the lushness of the aforementioned "Blackwater" and a festive foray into Latin with UK Gold 's remix of "Bateria-Latin Impressions.
But for the most part, Mills sticks with his more recent productions rather than older, well-known ones from the '90s. That, above all, distinguishes The Exhibitionist from Live at the Liquid Room : both are similar in style, one that is characteristically Mills and only Millsand both are representative of their points in time, which are nearly a decade apart.

You hear it on the radio almost hourly, and everyone in your life seems to be walking down the street to its beat. These days, I also find myself singing the words and humming the melodies of the new Dylan songs.
The reviews of Street-LegalSome Girls and two Stones concerts in Rolling Stone were exceptionally negative and, in many ways, seemed based on a weird hostility and bitterness. Popular on Rolling Teamgeist - Krutsch - Teamgeist / Vitamin B. Greil Marcus is saying that Street-Legal is completely without merit, lacks a single song good enough to redeem the effort, and is nothing but junk.
Not only that, but Mr. Dylan is insulting to women! Mother of God! They are songs about lost love — throwing it all away — and, what is even more compelling, the fear of love. Street-Legal is definitely a mixed bag.
And, as a whole, this LP is his most comprehensive comment about our current state since Blonde on Blonde. Dylan is going back through all his vocal and instrumental styles. The tracks are filled with obvious echoes from Highway 61 Revisited, Nashville Skylineet al. But the ambitiousness of Street-Legal has apparently made the artist too hesitant about reaching for his goals — in fact, he shies away from the challenge.
The new album is badly recorded, badly engineered, badly mixed. The drums sound like shoe boxes, the vocals drift on and Boris Werner - Daymare Dreamer EP mike, etc.
And no one has bothered to take the time to fix things up. Dylan needs a Love In Vain - The Rolling Stones - Berkeley Concert . Arrangements for a twelve-piece band take time, thought and care. If Dylan were to walk into the studio tomorrow and record the same set of songs, the results would be twice as good because his band has been on the road for three months now, benefiting from the time and care that this music clearly needed.
The bitterness toward the Dylan album has much to do with Renaldo and Clara, a film I skipped because of the anger it caused among those who saw it. The movie created a backlash which caught Street-Legal. Bob Dylan is moving back to the rock idiom, always my favorite of his periods.
And though he can still set most of his own rules as he did in the pasta lot of new rules have also been lodged, which is how it should be. A lion-taming act could have hopped onstage while Jagger rested. The two shows that Marsh wrote about were indeed less than the Stones have given us in the past. I saw the New York City date, skipped Philadelphia, but had the good fortune of seeing the band in a seat movie theater in Passaic, New Jersey, where they were hot and unstoppable.
The too few small dates on the tour were a special treat. Their new material was the high point of the concert in New Jersey. Keith Richards played his ass off, and Bill Wyman rumbled every Lila - Chad VanGaalen - Shrink Dust in the house. However, gigs like the 90,seater in Philadelphia and the end-of-the-tour dates in Anaheim and other megabuck stadium stops were unanimously regarded as second-rate stuff.
That was the point of the tour: cleanup time at the superbowls. But, boys, the price of that extra quarter-million — split six ways, after commissions and taxes — is bad reviews. And you Love In Vain - The Rolling Stones - Berkeley Concert them. And since he, more than anyone else, is the musical force behind the Stones, the band suffered without his guitar playing.
But I still feel that his review was based more on his own partisan zeal than on what he actually saw and heard. Despite the disappointment of the tour, most of the rock audience which, by early August, had purchased 3. Exile on Main Street. Nelson dwelled on matters of age and credibility that he felt caused the need to make an indisputably great album. My guess is that the Stones conceptualized their problem a six-year stretch of mediocre product in a much more prosaic manner.
They probably said something like this:. Last year more than seventy albums went platinum, but our own LPs have been pretty lukewarm. So, goddamn it, we find it a little embarrassing and painful to be taking a back seat again to Linda RonstadtBoz ScaggsPeter Frampton and so on.
Jagger, based on what Nelson gleaned from the idiot winds of the media, was being thematically dishonest in these songs.
For the first time in a long while, Mick Jagger is being absolutely unhesitant in addressing the contradictions and questions about his own life, the life of his band, his jet-set reputation — all in all, a pretty wide front. He wrote most of the melodies, most of the lyrics, and the obsessions are his.
Some Girls is sensational. Murder may be more romantic, but compulsion is probably more real. This record is so good because the band Méditation - Berliner Philharmoniker, Herbert von Karajan - Adagio something to say. What we are wondering is whether the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan can still produce work at the level of their earlier, explosive peaks, and whether or not they still have the same kind of relevance to our lives.
To put it more bluntly, have our old idols become outdated old-fashioned, or, worse, merely commercial? In one way or another, the three reviews I have taken issue with have raised questions about the importance and worth of artists who we assume to have put out their best work in the Sixties. Critical discussions — historical, social, moral — that ultimately revolve around the point of things not being what Love In Vain - The Rolling Stones - Berkeley Concert used to be are useless.
To argue otherwise is to deny the aging of the observer and the observed and to ignore the fact of change. Newswire Powered by. Close the menu. Rolling Stone. Arrow Created with Sketch.
